The Nature Center is a place to come and learn about the forest ecosystem in Eastern Kentucky.

The adjacent buildings, including the cordwood house, showcase sustainable building practices.


Learning about our ecosystems is essential to living sustainably. 

Students are welcome to visit! We offer an accredited science curriculum for all of our classes grades 4-6.

We offer occasional classes for all ages. If you would like to participate is a class or have ideas for classes we could offer please contact us!

Directions:  The Rockcastle River Demonstration sites is located off Interstate 75 along the Rockcastle River, south of Livingston, KY. Take Exit 49 off of the interstate, and head east on KY-909 towards US 25. Turn left on US 25 (north). Just over the river, across from the Rockcastle River Trading CO, turn left onto KY 1329. The Demonstration Center is located about half a mile down on both the left (picnic areas, camping, parking, cordwood trailer, and gardens) and right (solar house, cordwood, hiking trails, and Nature Center) of the road. Please call ahead for appointments.
